Confidentiality Agreement

Confidentiality is taken very seriously by the Society of Mary and Martha. Relatively minor pieces of information may be sufficient to identify a person in ministry. Misuse of sensitive information may have a detrimental effect on someone's life, health and ministry. If this Clergy Forum is to be useful it is important that members feel confident that their privacy will be strictly respected. The behaviour of Forum Administrators will also reflect on the core ministry of the Society of Mary and Martha at Sheldon. Breach of confidentiality by Forum Administrators would undermine trust in and respect for the Society's ministry.

The only forum administrator with access to member details as at May 2010 is Sarah Horsman, Administrator of the Society of Mary and Martha and member of the Sheldon Community. Technical Support from a local company may occasionally be granted temporary access under the terms of a written confidentiality agreement. If and when other forum administrators are recruited they will be carefully vetted and sign up to the following code of conduct and their name will be posted here. Never disclose personal registration details of any Forum Member to any third party who is not an employee of the Society of Mary and Martha or an authorised Forum Administrator.

  • Be vigilant in your written and spoken words to protect the privacy of Forum Members.
  • Publicise the Forum, but never gossip about its activities.
  • Be alert for Forum Members who may be unwittingly making themselves identifiable, and offer appropriate technical advice and support to enable them to disclose at the level they are comfortable with.
