Our Purpose and Vision

This resource is brought to you by The Society of Mary and Martha, an independent, ecumenical charity set up to support people in Christian ministry at times of stress, crisis, burnout or breakdown.

We have wanted to set up an online forum since we published our workbook "Affirmation & Accountability - practical suggestions for preventing clergy stress, sickness and early retirement" in 2002, so we are delighted to be launching this site at long last. Please do register and help get the discussions started.

Forum membership is open to clergy and ministers of all denominations and the members of their immediate household, and lay people in senior/policy making posts. Please do register for the forum - it's quite quick and painless! Start by clicking on the create new account link. Registration will involve an identity check carried out to try and ensure that the forum can be a safe and useful online space where people in ministry can meet, discuss, share good practice, offer case histories, and do useful networking. We hope this will become a valuable extension of the "real world" Mary and Martha ministry at Sheldon.
